introduce objects after frame 0

Hi all,
Sorry if this question was asked and answered before. I do not have the time to go browse through all those topics, as my animation should be ready for my son's wedding in a week. I have a quite elaborate scene and I am moving objects in and out of the viewport, but at a certain point it is getting really complicated. Is there a way to create new objects at a later frame than 0, so that I can create them while the rest of the scene is already at the state where the new objects are going to make sense (and have a reference where they should be positioned) ?
Someone suggested I should maybe create multiple scenes and then stitch them together in a video editing program but that would be a problem with the continuity and also I do not have the time to figure out how to work the video editing program so that the stitching will be seamless. So I would rather continue on this single animation flow. If I can create objects at a later frame that would help me enormously.
Thanks for any advice, pointers to tutorials, etc.
