Bones - what am I doing wrong?

I’m having a lot of trouble trying to get started with a simple bone animation. The bones I set up have an unpredictable influence on other vector layers; changing the bone strength makes some difference but they still drag points outside the strength radius. What am I doing – or not doing – that’s causing this?

I have some screen captures, but I don't appear to be able to attach them here.

I’m running Debut 10 under Windows 7 on a two-year-old Toshiba Satellite laptop.

My difficulty is not down to lack of computer skills. I’m new to Anime Studio but not to computers. I worked in IT for 20 years as an analyst/programmer on a range of platforms, the last few years developing commercial intranet web pages. I’ve been using software for photo, video and music processing for years. I’m not finding AS very intuitive to use, but that’s just a matter of familiarity; on the other hand, the Help is not very helpful with this problem, and neither is the built-in tutorial.

I'm a complete noob but that looks like a problem I was having. Check this link, viewtopic.php?f=13&t=27616 and see if that helps. One also must reduce the influence of the bone to as small as possible. The menu text is a bit confusing "Use selected bones for flexi-binding" allows one to NOT use flexi binding on specific joints. Again keep in mind that I'm a noob.

Check your bone parenting.

DeCay: thanks for the suggestion. It's taking me a while to get my head around the concepts of layer and point binding (or how to make them work, anyway), but I'm getting there slowly. My wife is into sheep -- in a nice way! -- and likes your artwork.

Synthsin: thanks to you too. One of my bones had got mis-attached again, despite my attaching it properly earlier on. I obviously need to take a lot of care until I've had more practice.
