Here is a better way of mixing the two. Take a little getting use to, but I think it will work for most situations. I use a marker layer to let me know if I'm doing fbf or rig. The marker use a bone layer and flipping the bone to mark what process I'm at. The two layers is pushed up on a switch layer by references. I can change the original layers and update the references. The reason for doing this is that you can't have two layer with different names active in a switch layer.
