I tend to work with masking in Photoshop rather than the eraser tool, but not sure how this gels with AS (I've hardly touched the photoshop to AS workflow). At the end when animating the jaw you could also have used bones to warp that layer to give you more mouth shape options.

Thanks! I am not sure if masks will translate when you import your psd to ASP. Good point on warping the mouth with bones as well. This was just a fast setup of Van Gogh. If I will make more video's with him I will do a different setup with smartbones.
