I've seen some tutorials where the line width tool can adjust the line width by pixels, but mine is only shown as percentage and i would like to change that, is it possible? thanks

The line width is not a pixel value, but it has two attributes:
- The overall shape has a single width value (you change this in the Style window)
- Each point has it's own width percentage, relative to the shape value (you change this with the Line width tool)
Now, if you go to the layer settings, you can add an outline over the entire layer. That outline value is in pixels.

This puzzled me too but then I finally realized the input value for the Line Width tool is a percentage of the Line Width you enter in the Style panel, which is the base number. So 100% always sets you back to the base line width number in your Style. It's probably confusing because they're both referred to as 'Line Width' but it actually makes sense to use percentage for the Line With tool because the tool can be used to vary the Style's line width value along a path.
As Victor already explained, the number in the Style panel does not represent screen pixels. I'm really not sure what it represents since the width can vary visually depending on how you've set up your project and layers. That might potentially sound confusing too but in practice it's a non-issue most of the time.
