is there ez way to get something to show up mid animation?

usually i gotta like past the image frame zero then when i need it comes thru sides or top how do i make it appear in say mid?

Always create stuff in frame 0. Then:
- put it outside the project frame (the blue rectangle) until you need it, or
- make it invisible (layer tab).
