Layer 3D shadow not working

I used the layer 3D shadow feature (the one that allows you to simulate realistic shadows on the floor) once on my first ASP11 experiment and it worked fine. From then on, for some reason, it seems to have gone off. Literally gone off, meaning the 3D shadow is in the wrong position. It floats mid-screen instead of being projected on the floor. So, say, a character will have his 3D shadow hovering somewhere behind his shoulders or higher above his head. No way to get it to work again. It looks like a bug, but I'm wondering if anyone else has crossed this problem.
