Hello all.
I would like to share with you my latest discoveries on Anime Studio in tutorials, but for this i need a simple and effective video screen capture program.
Before I was using VLC, but it is not easy to use and from one version to an other this possibility has disappeared.
Can you help me please in this quest?
Thanks in advance, best regards.

I really like open broadcaster. You can stream and/or record your screen.

If you're on OS X, use quicktime.

Thanks for your answers, I tried the first, it is not as simple as I'd hoped, but I think I'll take this one.
"If you want your face on the screen with the capture"
No thanks, I'm not of the generation selfie, sorry, but thanks for the suggestion.
Do not hesitate to continued to grow the list.
Best regards

Camstudio is finiky but works. I'd get the portable version that way it won't try to install anything on your computer like crapware.
Don't record for more than about 10 min or it could crash.
You will have to fiddle around the video options.
I know Sony Vegas does not like the Camstudio lossless codec. I use Microsoft Video 1 it seems ok.
You will need to mess with the Capture Frames Every and the Playback rate. It's impossble to get 24 fps only 25 is good.
YouTube is your best bet for this.

Camstudio that I use is on 2TB Portable External hard drive. The setting can change on you and you have to find out why it's recording like crap. Like; tell it to use mic and the next time you use it, it's using the speakers to record.
Long videos, over 10 minutes take awhile to process and can lose the sound sync. I use Microsoft Video 1 also. But I run the avi through Hand Brake and make the file mp4 before uploading to Youtube.

I really like Camtasia and always use it for my tutorials, but I just discovered this one called FastStone Screen Capture:
http://www.faststone.org/FSCaptureDetail.htm
It's cheap and seems to work very well so far. I haven't recorded a video longer than 3 minutes yet, but it looks simple and powerful. If it's the half as good as FastStone image viewer I'll be more than happy.
Also, it has a real time zoom option which sounds very handy.

There is always FRAPS, it can capture video and do screen grabs with a simple hot key that you can change to your liking.
Thousands of Gamers use this program for screen shots and video (The videos are huge though and will need to be compressed by changeing the file format, which is a bit of a pain).
