[solved] Target bone losing connection

Hi all,

I've got this problem with target bone losing connection.

In this example the B5 bone is targetting B6.

And it works like this when i push the big control bone down.

Image

Normal, yes.

But then, if I modify the B2 bone and make an action for it to correct something, something happens. When I rotate the B2 bone and use the action, the connection between the B5 and B6 brakes.

Like so.

Now the IK it's not working anymore (Unless the B2 is in it's original position). It's weird and it's happened before with different rigs as well. Is this a bug? Or how to avoid it?

here's the dummy rig if it helps.

If anybody can help with this, I'd be glad!

You have all the leg bones keyframed in the smart bone action. This means that the smart bone controls them. So with your smart bone not rotated, it's telling the legs to remain straight.

Thanks again Synthsin.

I was trying to figure out where I went wrong and I now I got it.

When making the rotation for the bone, on frame 1, I pressed cmd+F, to hit a key. That pushed the key to all the bones.

I should've just touched the bone with the transform tool to make a key to selected bone only. (Which is a bit inaccurate way in my opinion, the bone always seems to rotate a bit while hitting the key)

But this is solved, thanks!

You can also hit the angle reset button on the transform bone tool, if you don't want to move the bone to key it.
