I can't believe this isn't in the program....
Really, I NEED this feature NOW!

Literally, I looked for how to do this for about an HOUR and a HALF last night. It's beyond me that it's not there.
I want to be able to copy and paste bones in the same or different layers.

How about this.
1) did a save as to my project with vector layers and bone layer, I saved this as bone_only.moho or something
2) deleted everything but the bone layer.
3) save bone_only.moho
4) re-open my original file.
5) import moho object, bone_only.moho
keep repeating step 5.

Roman Bogush posted his first draft of
a script that can clone bones and children.
Thanks Roman! And thanks Lost Marble for scripting!

Thanks guys -
Neoranma - didn't work. And why can't I duplicate a layer with bones??
I'll check out that script..

hmm.. I wan't duplicating layers, just importing a layer multiple times.

I tried both - neither worked.

Remember, a bone layer is just a group layer with special properties. And it are those special properties you want to copy, but Moho has no standard tools for.
If there is more than one bone in a bone layer, there is always a hierarchy between those bones (parent-child relationship). If you copy a bone, you should also determine where in the hierachy tree the new bone should be put.
So, copying bones isn't as straightforward as for instance copying shapes. A simple on-screen GUI will probably not do. A bone hierachy window would probably be more to the point. In such a window one could copy a bone (create a new bone, based on the selected bone) and move it inside a hierarchy tree. At the same time, one should have control over the position, angle and length of the bone (and bone strength would be a nice option as well) in the same bone hierarchy window. And of course, all other bone properties could probably best be included in this windows as well.
So a separate bone window would be a nice addition to Moho.

I can create an elaborate bone structure in a 3d program, grab the whole thing, copy it, paste it. Then I have two.
It's that simple. Whatever inter-bone relationships exist in Moho shouldn't have any bearing on copy/paste.
It's one of the most necessary and standard functions of just about any program and should be available in Moho as well.

I don't know - the rest of us can.
Select/highlight the bone layer in the Layers panel (you didn't have a sub-layer selected when you tried to duplicate? the bones would still have been visible/manipulatable), hit the layer duplication button

, rename the layer if desired. It's that simple.
It probably helps to make sure that you are in frame 0, but I don't think that is essential.
