Binding Problem

Well, i am currently working in a project and i thought it would be more organized if i divided all the bones i use in my caracters in multiple bone layers, but the thing is, i can not bind a layer inside a bone layer to an outer bone layer.

I want to bind some layers inside 'EYES' and 'MOUTH' bone layers to a bone in 'GREGOR' bone layer, is it possible?

You could bind the lower bone layer to a bone in the parent layer. But if you want to have nested control, where the bone can reach deeper than a child layer, you cannot have any bones in the layer between the bone and the layer you want it to control.

Personally, I think you should keep all the bones in the same layer. It may seem more organized at the moment but in practice, it forces you to switch layers more often during animation.

I tend to set up fairly complex rigs at work but I always try to minimize how much jumping around I'll need to do for animation. For example, many of my switch layers are SBD driven so I can animate them along with the rest of the bones in the rig on the same layer channels.

That said, now that we can edit multiple layers and use Tags to call up layer sets, maybe that's not as big an issue anymore. :)
