Bone won't move

I have a bone in a rig (lower arm) which I can't manipulate. If I try to drag it around, it moves a little bit if I drag the mouse just so, but it's not right. I thought maybe stray keyframes were in the bone's smart action, which has caused this to happen before, but this done doesn't have a smart action (I don' think). I've double-checked the parenting and it looks right. The hand bone and the upper arm bones on the same arm, in the same chain, both work fine. Just this middle bone does this. Is it attached to a smart action I don't know about somehow? Something simple, right?

Haven't opened that dialog at all for this project.

Yeah, my first guess would be that you accidentally keyed it in another bone's smart action.

Well, my thinking was that someone would chime in with an obvious answer of the problem, but since that didn't happen, I decided to delete and recreate the bones. Voila, everything works now. I think it was some corruption somewhere.

Just curious but was the arm setup a duplicate of an existing arm?

I had some weird issues with duplicated leg bone chains recently, like certain channels in the duplicate seemed to be 'linked' to the original, even though I wasn't using reference layers at all. Part of it turned out to be user error (missed removing an action) but there were other problems that I couldn't explain. I wound up creating the second limb from scratch.

It was a duplicate of another layer, but I didn't duplicate the bones. It was way faster to just re-create them, but as I'm still trying to learn I just wanted to know if it was something I needed to be doing differently or maybe it was a gotcha I needed to know to avoid.
