According to the tutorial (2.2), I can create a vector with a hole in it by creating a fill shape, then putting the hole inside with another fill shape, and then use the Create Shape tool on the whole thing. It looks pretty good, but the hole is white, not transparent, so it's not really a hole at all. What am I doing wrong?

Befor you drawing your shapes turn off auto fill and auto stroke. You can easily add fills or stroke to your vectors later. So draw the main shape you want the hole in it, then draw ther shape that is supposed to be the hole. Now select all of your vectors then got to your create shape tool, select "fill" or "stroke" in the top menu then hit "create shape". Your shape should have the hole in it.
