Follow Path - Won't connect to path

I am following the directions to create a Follow Path, in fact I've done it before in this very project with no problem. I have my path all ready, a line shape which in this case will actually be visible. The first time I clicked on the path to follow it, my object jumped far away like it always does, so far so "good". Then I realized I hadn't included something in the group I am moving, so I undid, moved another layer into the group, and went to follow path again. This time, nothing happens. I can see in the timeline that a follow path channel is added for a split second, then disappears. I've tried closing and re-opening Moho, I've tried connecting a different layer to the path, I've even tried creating a new path for it to follow instead, nothing working. What's going on?
