Weld points from different layers?

I have drawn a sleeve on a different layer than the torso.

Is there a way to weld the two points where the sleeve is "sewed" with the corresponding two points of the torso? Or must the shapes be on the same layer to do this?
If the latter is the case - is it possible to copy a shape to another layer?

Points must be on the same layer to be welded. However, if you Reference or Duplicate a layer, you can show different shapes that share 'same' vector points. This is typically done, for example, when splitting a single arm vector drawing for two layers, one with the shape for upper arm and one with the shape for the lower arm, so it can be animated to 'wrap' around the torso. The layers are essentially using the same vector drawing (the paths), Moho just renders it differently (the shapes) for each Reference or Duplicate layer.

I can show an example but that will have to wait till after my work hours.

You can also bind the joining points of the torso and sleeve to the same bone to sew them together.
