This is a very simple issue.

I want to show image A from frame 1 to 10 and image B from 11 to 30.

I can create two image layers with A and B, but I don't have control on when to show and when to hide a layer.

I've looked several tutorials but such a simple question doesn't find an answer.

Hello,

When you have a layer selected, scroll down in the timeline window until you see the "eyeball". If you left click on a frame, it will select the image to show or hide that image on starting on that frame. The pink sections mean that the image will be hidden for that group of frames, while the white sections mean that the image will be shown for those frames.

Quick thought - if you put both inside a Switch Layer, you can use it to control visibility with a lot of flexibility. Select layer 1 in the switch layer, its visible. Select 2, layer 1 goes away and layer 2 is visible. If you want a blank, have a third layer as a sublayer, and switch to that.

If you want more than a "one or the other" setup, then just fish around for layer visibility. It's pretty flexible, and you can keyframe the alph channnel to do fades or dissolves and such. Fish on the board, it's been discussed plenty.

Visibility of an image layer won't show in "edit" view. You must render to see if a layer is "off" or its transparency is set.

I suppose this is a bug... not sure.

This is the case on the Mac version... have not tested on the windows version.

It can be tough to be sure where an image is off or on when you can only tell by looking at the time line for visibility or transparency.

OK I did the image change, thanks.

I might be happy [if fading is too hard, no problem] but to do it very well I'd like an image changement less abrut, maybe with a fading on the tail and on the head of the next.

How can I achive it?

Well, as Brian (7feet) already explained -

animate the Layer Opacity –

Image 1 at frame 1 - 100% opacity at frame 30 - 0% opacity
Image 2 at frame 1 - 0% opacity at frame 30 - 100% opacity

In the Timeline “Settings…” check the “Layer Opacity”
to have the key-frames visible in the timeline.

Choose your own key-frames and time for the fade out and fade in.

And as "heyvern" mentioned already you have to render it
to see the fade in and fade out (preview wont do).
