Set range and loop that timeline segment?

Post by mmmaarten »

Hi,
I'm feeling like a complete newbie while asking this, but searched everywhere for a while now and can't find what I'm after in the UI, the manual and google, so hope it does exist in Moho;

In animation software I'm used to set in- and outpoints on the timeline to only preview that segment of the timeline while hitting play. And mostly combine that whith a repeat/loop toggle turned on so it keeps looping that segment in the player when playing. That last part is especially useful when creating seamless looping animations.

In the timeline bar of Moho however I don't see anything like a start-frame textbox or a loop/repeat toggle. And when looking in the menus or keyboard shortcuts I can't find anything that looks like it could do this.

To be clear: I know about the cycle-keys and it's fantastic and great and I use it to create loops while creating overlap by offsetting layers. That's a great way of creating seamless loops. But I'm not asking how to create loops here, but how to preview in the viewer while working on a specific part in the timeline.

How can we set IN- and OUT-points for playing and how can we toggle repeat for only continuously playing that segment while working on that part?

Welcome to the forum, fellow Utrechter! Our studio is based in Utrecht, hi :)

Control (or Command) + Click on the frame indications on the timeline sets a (green) IN-point. Control + Right clicking set the (red) OUT-point.

Similarly, you can set the project start- and end-frames with Alt + Clicking on the frame numbers.

Cool, gonna check it out!
[edit] Ah, it's Frame Order. That's funny, I just saw one of your video's on youtube 2 days ago. Figured it was Dutch, but didn't know it was based in Utrecht. Nice work!

Thanks! That's exactly what I'm looking for! Is there also a way to toggle repeat?

No, unfortunately there's no way to not have it loop. Play is always 'play and loop' in Moho.

Thanks for your response again. That's unfortunate, but better this than not having a loop at all!

As of just this moment there is: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/diw ... e.zip?dl=0
Install as a tool so you can set a shortcut.

It will store the last partial timeline loop you used and toggle it on/off.

Thanks for the work, but scripts don't work in Debut :(

BTW I've sent Lost Marble 'Sales' an e-mail Two (!!) weeks ago and a reminder last week because I didn't get ANY reaction. They still didn't respond, so that's pretty bad. It doesn't show good customer care and they even seem to not be willing to sell their product. Even one-person companies with lots of users mostly react within 24 to 48 hours. Especially when there's something to sell. So it makes me wonder by now if the company is even still alive. Very dissapointing.

Scripts do work in Debut. You just need to make a Custom Content Folder, from the preferences, and install the files in your ...\Moho Debut\Scripts\Tool folder.
Debut just doesn't have a Scripts menu...but any menu script can be installed in the Tool folder, as a button (it just likely won't come with an icon).

A response from any company kind of depends on what you're wanting. If you're just complaining about their business model, no reply is likely to satisfy you, as companies do not change their business models on a whim. If you're wanting to upgrade to Pro, you can do that on their website.

I would appreciate it if you wouldn't asume stuff like this and fill in my words.

That's just the reality, if you're trying to tell people how to run their business.

Then don't whine about it on the forum without telling us what you're trying to reach them about. A few people around here have a more direct line to Lost Marble, and if they had any clue what you're on about, they might be inclined to help you.

But it really looks like you just want to vent your spleen and badmouth. No one here can understand your problem unless you explain it. If you've already explained it, then you are only complaining about their business model.
