Replacing Sequence

Hi everyone,

I have a sequence in a project which I am having a problem trying to replace it with another sequence.

Scenario
My initial sequence (let's call it Sequence 1) is mouth000 to mouth999, saved in drive D:\Project\Mouth\Sequence1\mouth000
My new sequence (let's call it sequence 2) is mouth0000 to mouth1500, saved in drive D:\Project\Mouth\Sequence2\mouth0000

when I try to use Set Source Image under the layer setting to replace Sequence 1 with Sequence 2, the swap seems not to work as on hitting play sequence 1 is the one that's still playing. On hitting reveal image source under the layer setting it opens up the folder holding Sequence 2.

How can one go about replacing an image sequence?

In trying to find a workaround. I tried to rename folder Sequence1 to Sequence1X so that moho could prompt me to find the missing file but on trying to navigate it to pick Sequence2 it seems not to work as sequence 2 doesn't get updated.

Is there a script that can help one swap/change a sequence by bringing a popup window to select a new sequence?
Could it be that my first sequence had 3digits on the sequence be issue because the new sequence went past 1000 frames and now the second sequence has 4digits on the sequence (ie frame one of the first sequences is mouth000 and Sequence2 frame one is mouth000

Nah, it's not you. Moho 13.5.5 has a problem with replacing image sequences. You should be able to use Set Source Image to change the footage but that doesn't work.

I noticed that quite a while ago but I forgot to report it because when I'm using animated reference footage (like an animatic,) I usually just overwrite the source and Moho picks up the changed frames. And when I need to composite footage for final output, I typically use a compositing program like After Effects, Fusion or Nuke...but I know that's not a good answer.

I'll submit a bug report today. For now I think the best you can do is import the replacement footage as a new Image Sequence layer and then delete the old one. This is easier to do if you create a group for the image sequence and import the replacement to that group.

If you do any transforms to the footage, transform the group in stead...this way, if you replace the contents of the group again, it will still be transformed by the group.

If you're binding the sequence to a bone, put it in a group and bind the group instead.

If the footage is being deformed by a mesh, just point the new footage to the mesh after you import it.

Hope this help.

Hello @Greenlaw, thank you for the prompt response and workaround on this. I will try to follow the suggestions that you have given as this seems to be a workaround as we wait for the bug to fix.
