cannot grab points in smart bone timeline

having an issue in my smartbone timeline from time to time.
Sometimes I am unable to grab points to transform a particular layer, using the grab points tool. Only one point will select and be able to be transformed, no matter which points I circle with the grab points lasso. The layers are within my bone layer, where the smart bone dial is.
