Using the select tool in Anime Studio for over ten years, to deselect you'd just hit enter. Nice and easy. Recently upgraded to Moho and this no longer works.
At the bottom says to press alt, this also doesn't work unless I ALSO click.
How did you break something so simple? I don't want to have another click in my work flow, I rely on the keyboard shortcuts because I have tendon issues. This might not seem like a big deal to most people but if there's a way to change this please tell me.

So ... either click-off (click background) or use ESCape key.
There is also an option to go old-skool: in Edit > Preferences > Tools
Classic point editing keyboard shortcuts: This preference switches the shortcuts for point binding and de-selection. By default, this option is unchecked.
When this option is not checked, new shortcuts will be used:
The Enter key will be used for welding and creating shapes
The Escape key will be used to deselect all objects
The Spacebar will always be used to toggle playback.
When this option is checked, legacy shortcuts will be used:
The spacebar is used for welding and creating shapes
The Enter is used to deselect all objects.
The spacebar is also used in some cases to toggle playback.

As SimplSam points out, to drop a selection/shape just click in the background or press Esc. Easy peasy!
The 'newer' keyboard configuration was actually implemented a long time ago. Personally, I recommend using the newer configuration rather than enabling the legacy configuration. Using the old configuration might lead to confusion when following current Moho tutorials or discussing tools and techniques with other Moho users, and it may affect proper operation of third party scripts. Plus, the newer keyboard behavior makes Moho's UI more consistent with many other art and animation programs.
Hope this helps.
