Is it possible to use image layers as masks in Moho Pro?

Yes, an image with can be used as a mask. Especially useful if the image has transparent regions.

Sure, using an image layer for a mask works the same way as a vector layer: the RGB colors in the image don't matter but transparency does, and Moho even respects varying the levels of transparency in the image. Almost any image format that supports a transparent background should work, and a PNG image with a transparent background is always reliable.
One difference is that the display preview may not be accurate (especially when the transparency has graded values) so you'll want to do a Ctrl-R preview render to be sure you're going to get what you want with the image layer mask.
An obvious difference is that you can't directly point animate an image layer like a vector layer but you can use a mesh layer to animate it.
In general, I find it's easier/better to go with a vector layer for clean masks but there are special situations when it makes sense to use an image layer as a mask.
But if your color image layer already has a transparent background, it may not need to be masked...Moho will just use the image's existing transparency.
Hope this helps.

Not only images work as masks, videos with transparency do so as well.
