Hi .
There are 3 option in depth sort tab
Enable animation order: let you animate layer order
Sort by true distance : sort layers according to 3d z depth
Sort layer by depth: ? What is this mean? This option is essential to enable pervious option but what it means without 3d z depth?
Different between options in depth sort tab?

Layer Order and True Distance are two different ways to display and render layer stacking positions in Moho.
Layer Order uses the order as it appears in the Layers window. This means higher layers will always render in front of the lower layers.
True Distance uses the layer's physical position in 3D space. So if a layer is physically farther away from the camera and other layers, it will appear behind the other layers. If it's closer than the other layers, it will appear in front. To change the stacking relationship, you need to physically move and keyframe the layer in z-space.
There are rare situations where it makes sense to use true distance to sort layers, but I generally suggest sticking with Layer Order. Layer Order is easier to manage and is less prone to user error. You can mix both methods, by the way.

Greenlaw. You explained it very nice. Thank you
The distance from camera is not good solution for 3d works because it calculated from the layer origin and makes bizarre results.
The fun thing about depth sort is every group has its depth sort and if in a group we have layers in far z- depth distance they will not appear behind other layer that stacked in lower place. ( I think should switch my 3d brain from 3ds max to 2d moho! 3d world,
)

A while back, Lukas made an interesting script that animated an item's z position based on it's relative 2D position, like the item's position on Y.
I'm not sure I remember this accurately, but I think the example he showed was how a character's relative position in front of or behind a tree was based on how close they were to the horizon line along its Y-axis.
Or, I'm just totally making this up. I'll see if I can find the original topic and link it here.

My description wasn't accurate, but this is generally the idea.
Update: Ah! Victor beat me to it.
