Shape fill color problem

Post by AlrikJ »

Hello everyone,
I'm dealing with Moho's behavior that I don't understand.
I'm using Moho 14.3.
When I create a shape, sometimes it doesn't fill with the color I've selected, but with a color I'm using on other shapes.
If, after selecting the shape, I change the fill color, it doesn't change in my shape.
When I check the box next to the eyedropper in the styles window (see image), the shape applies the color I've selected.

I don't understand why this only happens for certain shapes. Also, what's the purpose of this box next to the eyedropper?
If anyone has an explanation, it would be great.
Thanks in advance.

When the checkbox is unchecked, Moho hides the property. This is a way to create, for example, an unfilled stroke-only shape or a filled shape without a stroke.

The checkbox lets you override a property for a Custom Style. For example, you apply a Custom Style to a Shape with a Blue 2-point Stroke, but you want a Red 2-point Stroke. Checking the box tells Moho you want to use the current Style's Stroke color but keep the other properties intact (Like Custom Style's Fill color.) This allows this shape to be unique, apart from other shapes using the same Custom Style; everything else about the shape's Style can still be updated using the Custom Style's settings.

In other words, it's a way to customize the Custom Style for the current shape.

If you're unfamiliar with Custom Styles, I'm planning a tutorial about this.

Hope this helps.

I'm unsure about the other issue; it sounds like an order-of-operation issue. If you can, post a step-by-step description of what you're doing, maybe an example project and someone here should be able to help. (Sorry, I won't be able to check till this evening.)

Wait, wait...I forgot there are two checkboxes for each Style property. Also, I had one bit of info backward.

The first checkbox (the one on the left) is for the current Style. It does what I described at the beginning of the post above.

The second box (on the right) does what I described for Custom Styles. When it's unchecked, the property from the Custom Style is used, and when it's unchecked, the Custom Style's property is hidden and the current Styles property will be used. (That was the part I had backward.)

Sorry for the mix-up. I was writing from memory, and after I launched Moho, I saw I mispoke.

I was wondering why my inactive second checkbox was unchecked while yours was checked, so I took a minute to figure it out.

I believe it's a visual quirk you can ignore. When the checkbox is inactive like that, it doesn't matter whether it's on or off. The checkbox's state only has meaning after a Custom Style is applied.

The checked/unchecked state of this box while inactive is based on its state when the option was deactivated...probably after a Custom Style is removed. So, just ignore it until you apply a Custom Style and it becomes active again.

Hope this helps.
