How to re-sync a Reference Layer’s bones to the Original without losing layer-level settings?

Hello everyone :D
I’m animating a scene where two characters are hugging. To manage foreground/background occlusion, I created a Reference Layer from a fully rigged Original Layer (e.g., Character A’s hand in front of B, while A’s head goes behind B). Their motion needs to remain perfectly synchronized.

Occasionally, I inadvertently set bone keyframes on the Reference Layer, and from that point the Reference stops following the Original—even if I delete those unintended keys.

What I’ve tried

Update Layer Reference → no change.

Sync All Channels to Original → restores the pose, but clears the Reference Layer’s own layer-level keys (e.g., Visibility) that I still need for occlusion.

Question
Is there a way to re-sync the Reference Layer’s bones to the Original while preserving other keys on the Reference (such as Visibility or other Layer Settings)? If not, I’d be grateful for any recommended workflow to avoid desync yet keep separate layer-level controls for occlusion.

Details
Moho version: [14]
OS: [macOS]

Many thanks in advance for any guidance!

You can try syncing the specific channel(s) in the Timeline (not the Layers Window.) To do this, Right-Click over the Channel icon and select Sync Channel To Original. You might need to do this one channel at a time, if more than one channel was unintentionally keyframed.

Hope this helps.

Tip: I like to make my reference layers very obvious by adding REF or REFERENCE in front of the layer name, and maybe picking a bright color for the layer.

Another level of security is to lock the layer. Moho can't do this natively, but there is a script by Synthsin75 that can. I haven't tried it to lock a Reference layer, but I think it should work.

Be sure to read through the entire topic, as there are multiple versions of the script addressing different issues.

Let me know if it helps.
