El Monstero: Pink Floyd Tribute Concert

Post by drumlug13 »

If you're from the St. Louis/Midwest area you may have heard of El Monstero, an annual series of Pink Floyd tribute concerts that's been around for 25 or 26 years. I've done several cartoons for their shows and it's a total blast, the only downside is there's always a super short window to put something together. So all the mistakes from the rush job are going to stick out pretty bad here on the forum... But these are just waaaay too much fun to pass on. If you've got a few minutes and are even remotely a Pink Floyd fan, you gotta watch this one at least until the curtain drops.

All the animation is Moho 14.4. Backgrounds were drawn in Clip Studio Paint. Assembled in Vegas Pro 23

Looks like a decent enough job. Some shots are pretty effective: you saved on metamorphoses by clever cutting and staging (like Supergirl at the UFO: turnig the cupola to reveal the splattered goo, instead of animating the exploding alien!).

That 360° smart bone upgrade in the latest update is a huge time saver. That's what I used to turn the cupola.
Also the show has been around long enough now that the long time fans are bringing their kids along too. So keeping it kid friendly was a pretty big time saver too lol.
