Hey Animators,
Today, on my birthday, I’d like to share something special with you.
Every year on this day, I try to give back as a way of showing gratitude for all that I’ve been blessed with in my life.
In past years, I’ve done this by making all of my paid Moho courses free. Earlier this year, I announced that I would be releasing all of my courses onto
YouTube
For the past 2 years, Chris Georgenes and I have been hard at work on The Animator’s Blueprint: The Beginner’s Guide to Mastering Moho.
We made this book with one goal: to create the best possible resource for learning Moho.
We’ve poured our years of industry experience, production knowledge, and passion for animation and Moho into this book. Published by Taylor & Francis Group.
And now, we’re finally getting ready to share it with all of you.
The Animator’s Blueprint: The Beginner’s Guide to Mastering Moho officially launches on
July 20th and will be available through major book retailers worldwide.
We can’t wait for you to dive into everything we’ve poured our time, talents, and heart into.
Thank you to everyone on this forum who has helped me, gave me feedback, constructive criticism and support throughout my journey learning Moho.
- McCoy Buck
(Happy to answer any questions about the book, process, etc - feel free to ask)

Hey there! Thank you and great question. We won't cover that in volume 1. We hope to cover that more in volume 2 - The Animator's Blueprint: The Ultimate Guide to Mastering Moho.
Here is what each chapter we'll cover in volume 1
Chapter 1: Creating your First Animation in Moho
Chapter 2: Designing for the Rig
Chapter 3: Rigging for the animation
Chapter 4: Animating for the Story
Chapter 5: Character Design and Animation
Chapter 6: Building a 2D Scene in a 3D space
The Animator’s Blueprint: The Beginner’s Guide to Mastering Moho walks you step by step through how to design, rig, and animate using Moho’s professional tools and workflows. Whether you’re brand new to animation or a seasoned animator exploring Moho for the first time.

I really like the chapter heads 2, 3, and 4. Shows the interaction of all these aspects!

Thanks slowtiger! It's so crazy, this book has gone through so many iterations and revisions but it all was based on that core foundation that I've ingrained as my core 3 principles when working in any animation tool both 2D and 3D. I've come to find when someone is struggling with their rig - it usually is not the the 'bones' but the design itself.

Thanks Greenlaw! It's been a long road to get a book release date but we are very happy to get to this point. I've already made notes for the second edition and currently working on Volume 2

Chapter 2: Designing for the Rig

Chapter 4: Animating for the Story
What Slowtiger said...
Those titles alone are a valuable lesson!

Thanks Peter! Yes, I could write a book based on these principles alone as they are the core understanding I want users both new and wanting to level up understand, if there goal is to use Moho at a professional level.

One thing that starts to become obvious after watching many rigging videos is that the great majority are 'general' or 'multi purpose' rigs.
rigs that are intended to be able to do everything and are designed with this flat telelens perspective.
This is what you could call (to say it in the style of your book chapters): 'rigging for the rigging'
And while these are very useful in many situations, they do leave a whole segment of cinematic possibilities untouched.
For instance very seldom you find rigs with a perspective, as if the camera sees it from either below or above.

100% agreed.
