Had a quick look on the discussion boards, but found no similar topic.
Got Moho 14.4. On checking for updates (mac) it says:
I'm up to date.
So when I go to website page and press download Moho Showtime I get the Download Moho 14 for Macintosh button. This I've done. Now on clicking request to install the app it says:
I've got a newer version existing in the applications folder, do I still want to install. .
1. Do I proceed. Or do I need to bin the existing Moho 14.4? before I can upgrade.
Got to say from two videos watched. The Moho team have excelled themselves.
14.5 is a six right out of the ball park!

You can just go into the Applications fodler and re-name the old Moho to Moho14-1 or something, then install the new one. This way you'll have both versions, just in case the new one cause trouble (I do this every time).

If you use custom keyboard shortcuts, watch out for differences in key mappings between 14.4 and 14.5. For me, this broke my MQC tool, and I had to create a 14.5-specific version of MQC, including a 14.5-specific keyboard shortcut set.
This means that whenever I switch from Moho 14.5 back to 14.4, I need to remember to change the keyboard shortcut settings because these two versions share this setting.
Other than that, yes, installing different Moho releases in separate folders works fine.

Scripts in the Custom Content could be an issue as well if they only work in 14.4 or 14.5 but not both. Luckily, I don't have any scripts like that at this time, but it's something to keep in mind.

Interesting, Greenlaw, mine went a bit different. I only use a handful of custom shortcuts, and after installing 14.5 next to 14.4 they all carried over fine, nowt broke that I noticed. To be fair I don't have any fancy tools like your MQC, so that's probably why I got off lightly...

Sorry, I could have been clearer in my explanation.
Many 14.4 and earlier scripts are certainly compatible with 14.5, but some older scripts may break in 14.5. It's a fact of life that when a new version of Moho is released, old scripts may break. Fortunately, this happens rarely.
Also, some older scripts simply become obsolete because new features may render them so. Such is the case with certain popular third-party drawing tool scripts and mods; they're not necessary in Moho 14.5 because of its native drawing tool improvements. So, it's good practice to review the scripts you currently have installed and remove the unnecessary ones. But if you continue to use an older version of 14.x alongside 14.5, then it's a good idea to maintain multiple content folders so you can still have those scripts for the older version of Moho, and remove the unnecessary scripts for the newer one. (May as well make room for other useful tools.)
The same goes for settings files, such as Keyboard Shortcuts (as in my case with MQC). This is easy enough to correct, but it's something to be aware of if you choose to keep older versions of Moho 14.x, since you'll need to manually switch between settings compatible with the version you're using.
To be honest, I've been using 14.5 for a while now, and I'm beginning to feel confident that I don't need to keep 14.4 as a backup. The bug fixes alone make me want to stick with 14.5. When I remove 14.4, I'll likely remove my 14.4 content folder as well. But it doesn't hurt to keep it around...just in case.
Heck, I still have Moho 12.5 and 13.5 on my computer.*
*(Note: At least the content folders and settings files are NOT shared between these versions and Moho 14.x. Each full number upgrade has its own folder and settings, so no need to switch when you launch these versions.)
