Hi Genete, I updated the link with some more seconds to the animation, I also changed the codec to sorensen3, let me know if it works.

thank you DVTVFilm, it is a test for the mirroring effect and what can be accomplished, now it's updated.

I'm not at home now, but with this new link I could see the sample. Let me watch it tonigth with Mplayer to know if it works. Thanks for your interest.

Great mirror test!. Funny also!!
How did you achieve it? I was thinking on this feature some time ago but didnot try to acomplish the mirror task yet. I'm interested in how do you realize it. Please let us know.

Anyway there are a couple of things that I want to comment (if I can...).

I would like to see hen's legs mirrored. In your example the legs are hidden by hen it self. Well, if hen's left leg is behind the hen in original drawing, then left leg should be avove the hen in reflected drawing.

Second thing is that reflected hen must be bigger when original hen approaches to the mirror. In your example the mirrored hen goes far away when the hen walks to the mirror, what is wrong. In fact mirrored hen must have same size than original hen when it is close to the mirror.

Don't worry about my comments, your test is great!! (but could be improved  )

EDITED: Now at home and continue same problem with Mplayer 99% buffering and stopped.

I updated the "mirror test", I've changed the hens scaling (thanks Genete!) and added some details to the story.
About the hens left leg and vice versa, it will not be as it would be in reality in this setup, you're absolutely right Genete, well it made me start thinking how to accomplish this.....hmmm, I can't figure it out right now.
here's the latest "mirror" link:

and on "youtube":

thanks for watching and comments!

Cheers!. Much better now. I like a lot the hills and the cluods. (perhaps you could put some clouds to front view to make it more credible. (If not reflected world seems "other world")
Now it is time to explain me (please) how did you achieve the mirror feature.
I'm planning to do a perfect mirror so want to know troubles that you have had.

Thanks for posting in youtube.
(here @ work, I can see videos in primary format, so don't worry more about mplayer. I think it is not a problem with the file but something related to "Getting playlist" from your url. If I configure my mplayer pluging to directly play from server without buffering it said: "Getting playlist" for a long time. After that it stops. In other webs I have similar problem. Once dowloaded the file to my hard disk it plays perfec.)

Well I'm not so good to explain so I uploaded the .anme file so you can explore it, it's rather big 16.5mb with all the images included, I hope you will have some use of it. :D

Thanks. I will see it tonight, and explain to you my ideas about how to make a perfect mirror performance.
Rgds.

ulrik: Lots of good stuff. I like your way with colours, textures, and shadows, and the slightly surrealistic touch of what happens. I was reminded of some animation by Jan Lenica, and some bits from Yellow Submarine. Are you working on a longer project?

I've opened the file and watched the composition and it is very good stuff.
You take care of lots of details during animation. also use of image layers is lovely.

Thinking about mirrors it is clear that masking must play in this issue. Your solution to mirror test is the obvious one. But to perform a perfect mirror we should consider two main things:
1) Movements are plane simertrical.
2) For a mirror parallel to the camera we see reflected in mirror the back area (invisible area) of things.

To solve second issue I've thought that we can make a character with front and back view one behind the other (in a 3D way) to allow show back if we perform a 180 degree rotation in axe X or Y. Sort by true distance must be "on".

For the first issue we can perform three operations:
A) rotate layer in Y axe 180ยบ. It shows back view.
B) flip shapes vertically it put in correct position.
C) Invert keyframes values in timeline. All x must be -x all Y must be -Y and all z must be -Z.

Then a perfect mirror (front view) will be reached.

Ready to acomplish it???

Really hard!!!

See you.

EDITED: updated mplayer. NOW can see your movies in your homepage :D :D :D :D :D
