My brother and I tried our hand at anime studio a little while ago. We used high-res photos of some of our Star Wars action figures and put together this movie trailer.

Summary: 2 stupid storm troopers take their AT-ST (chicken walker) in for a lube 'n oil when it is stolen by "The Twins" (Greedo and Squidhead). The Twins take the chicken walker on a rampage across the US in their plot to take over the world. Sandmanman (Tusken Raider) flys to the rescue after a highspeed chase in LA.

p.s. You nailed the waiting room. I so identify with those storm troopers. I just got new tires and it was suppose to take 30 minutes... I was there for 3 and a half hours and they didn't even give me a discount.

Glad you liked the Seattle stop! I was worried on the junky YouTube version that you couldn't see the Polaroids too well. I'll have to post up a better version here.

LOL. I'm surprised you could "name that cockpit"! I suppose we could have Dremel-ed out the back of the AT-ST toy to get a real shot... but asking google images for a cockpit shot was easier

The photos were 6 megapixel shots taken in a desktop studio box. I put them in Photoshop and cut the figures into pieces. Body+2 arms+2 legs+head. Then I just imported them into Anime Studio as .png type photos to get a transparent bg and pinned them on skeletons. You really had to get the bones pinned and scaled right or things just looked goofy! And really, as you can see the animation is still a little rough

Thanks . The waiting room shot is one of my favs. It has the most animation in it too. The elevator music my brother picked out really makes it pop, don't you think? Stormtrooper 1 scratching himself is hella funny too.

Funny concept! I little note on the animation, try turning off the smoothing on your frames and set all the inbetweens by hand. Then your animation won't have a mechanical floaty feel to it. Nice job!

Firstly, Thank you for explaining what you did to get the action figures, cockpit etc. into the movie
This is the part I find most inspiring - that is knowing how you achieved the effects
What I would like to know is..
is that waiting room with the seats, a composite of different pictures or did you use one photo and break it up ?
