Hellooo. This is my first post on this forum. I was doing a search on "NY animation/anime studios", for employment. And this forum came up on the search list.
I'm not an animator, but I have experience with graphics (ex.photoshop, flash, fireworks, light after effects stuff). But, i'm not looking for any type of graphical work, as a primary.
To be honest, I would like to get my foot in the door at a studio, or distributor that works in animation or anime. I have a lot of administrative experience, but i've been focusing on advertising and marketing for the last two years, in hopes that I could move toward creative work. My real dream is to become a voice actor and to write for animation and manga. But, I need to get a steady day job so that I can invest into doing my dream work.
Does anyone have any advice that they can give me? Or, does anyone have any resources that may point me to a specific job page that lists openings at studios?
I'm in between jobs right now, and I would rather promote myself towards the industry that I want to grow in. Rather than taking whatever comes along. If I can hold out long enough.

To be honest just from reading your post, I'm really not too sure what kind of work you're hoping to get from an animation studio. You're a little vague. If you're interested in voice work, you'd probably be better off hunting down audio production houses. If you're interested in writing, you might be better off pitching ideas to networks, or finding some resource that lists writing jobs.

Most jobs at animation studios require a great deal of skill both artistically and technically in the field of graphic arts, and not someone who just 'has experience with graphics'. They need someone with a bit more committment to the craft than that.

So if you're not really interested in pursuing this, I don't know what you hope to find at an animation studio for a day job. -An internship, maybe?

Well Actually, I was looking for more of an entry-level administration position, or entry-level marketing/PR position, i.e. reception, office admin, AR/AP, mailroom, messenger, etc. (Foot in the door positions). Not a strictly artistic postition. I know that they have these jobs available to non-interns. I just wanted to know if anyone knew of a specific listing or resource where studios post their job listings. Besides on there own websites.
I've done production work through my temp-agency, but unfortunately they were temp positions.
