See through

Hey there! I have an image that i want to make it semi transperant (kind of see through). Is there a way to do that? If so, mind telling me how?
Whole images: double-click the layer and set its transparency by percent.
Single shapes: when you create a fill, there's a vertical slider next to the rainbow slider which sets the alpha = transparency level.
