.WAV file visual keeps on disappearing after about 40 second

AARGH! I keep on having to re-import my sound file, as the graphic display of the .WAV keeps on disappearing after about 40 SECONDS!
AAAARGH!

I've had this happen on occasion but not consistently -- it's a definite bug but it's been there for quite some time (at least since 5.5).
What's even odder (for me) is that sometimes switching layers will bring it back again. I can't actually find the rhyme or reason behind it.
