Cant Get Shape To Fill
Ok I have an existing complex shape (a torso to be exact) that is already filled. I am trying to attach a shape to it (so that the 2 shapes will share one side). They attach (weld) to one another just fine but for some reason I can not get the second shape to be recognized as a shape so that I can fill it. When I use the Create Shape tool on it (the second shape) all that highlites is the series of lines not associated with my original torso shape. What am I doing wrong?

with the 'create shape' tool, select the inner line, then shift+click the POINTS in between to complete the shape... then you can fill it (press space)
alternatively, get fazeks tool updats (scripting forums) - with that you can just click the inner line, then the outer line...

Sorry I can't seem to see the problem.
I selected the points indicated and made a shape fine. Make sure you only select the points that are part of the shape.
If you get just ONE single extra point the shape won't fill. You only want the points selected that make up the closed shape of that area.

AHA!
You are only selecting the inner points of that shape. When I select the shape using fazek's select points tool it selects the shape AND the points it is made from.
According to that only the line on the inside is part of the shape. You need all the points of the fill shape you want to create selected... even if they are part of another shape.

Beware of indiscriminate use of fazek's create shape in that way. It uses an algorithm to search a fillable shape all around the layer and can have some troubles is the mesh is too complex.funksmaname wrote:...with Fazeks tool you only need to click inside the shape.
I have had sometimes a non end loop with this tool and finally I have to force close AS on the brute force....
SO DON'T CLICK FAR OUTSIDE A CLOSED REGION OR YOU 'LL EXPERIENCE ODD THINGS.

I never had any trouble with the shape creation tool. I don't actually click "inside" the shape to select the points.
I always click the lines around the shape.
However, I use the select points tool on an EXISTING shape to select the points of a shape.
This is a FANTASTIC FEATURE of Fazek's select points tool. Imagine you have a shape mixed in with a bunch of points... scattered about, it could be very difficult to select JUST the points of a filled shape.
Clicking in the existing shape with the select points tool selects the points that are part of that shape. This comes in very handy.
It is for me like having a special type of "group select" tool.
