How do I animate multiple layers at once?

Hey, another newbie question. Is there a way to translate multiple layers at once? Ie - if I've got my eyes on a separate layer as the head, can I translate them all at once, so they still line up? Or do I have to move them separately?

Hi Sruli.

There are a couple of ways to do it.

One way is to make all layers child of a Group layer, by dragging them onto the Group layer. If you are using the standard version and not the Pro version, a Bone layer without bones can act as a Group layer.
Then assign the entire Group layer (and its children) to a head bone.

Another way is to place all the points within the bone strength of a single head bone (using regional binding rather than the default flexible binding), then use bone offset to place the head into position.
(See Tutorial 3.4 for a better explanation of this technique.)

Regards, Myles.

You could put both eyes on the same layer?

Yes, why not? This is the default way to do, and it works as long as there's some space between the two (or more) eyes. The moment the eyes overlap you'll need two layers, or even two groups, to get the masking with lids and pupils correctly (I assume a reasonably complex layout here).
