im having great difficulty figuring out the switch layer...iv realized that you need to have sub tabs, and ive done that while attatching them to that layer, i have the key frame set with an eybrow, change the timeline, and change it to another type of eyebrow...but the points arent showing up on the timeline, nor is the change just made...it stays to the change just created, and doesnt go back...what am i missing, lol

Need more info or screen grabs.

From your basic description it sounds like it should be working. There must be something else you are doing incorrectly.

it sounds like you still have a sublayer selected while you play back your animation? AS keeps the currect selected switch layer visible regardless of whether it is the active one or not... go up to the switch folder layer before previewing (or any other layer for that matter, except one of the sub layers)

?

thank you for your help...but it still is refusing to work

iv noticed that the begaining animation...(when you open the program)...that the layers that are switchable...(switch layers, lol), are image loaded pictures...and when you switch those to the top, it actualy shows up in the program...but the box says that you can import pictures, or create your own...these are the layers that i have,
head>facing(the camera)>(that opens up to) eyebrows b e(big eyes)>three types of eyebrows vector layers, and so on...but ive got the larers down for long animation meaning folders for future expansions, but when i have shocked eyebrows on the top layer for veiwing, it shows during the whole timeline, now when i select a point in time that i wish for it to change to sad,...nothing shows up to show me that it did anything...and now the sad eyebrows are showing throughout the whole animation...i have no idea what to do right now, im wanting to go further in my animation proccess of learning, and iv only had the program for 4 days, and tutorials and google have helped a lot, but nothing is helping me in this delima of mine...if i could figure this out...ive basicly got things down to be able to create small detailed animations, if there is a way that i could entrust someone with the data from my program so that they may access my animation so that they may see first hand of what im doing wrong...if any of this is answerable, please help me...sorry about the leangth...lol

This is a really common problem... remember that you use switch layers by right clicking on the switch layer itself and choosing a layer from the context menu... not by opening the switch layer and selecting the layer inside that you want.

This is the part that seems to be incorrect. You don't need to change the layer order. The reason a layer in a switch "seems" to "show up" is not because you changed where it is in the order but because it is "selected".

Technically you never even need to open or expand a switch group layer to use it.

Right click on the switch layer (the TOP LAYER that looks like a folder) that CONTAINS the layers to be "switched" and select which layer you want to appear at that point in the time line.

Also each layer in a switch must have a "unique" name. If you have layers with the same name it won't work.
