Hey!
Doing this musicvideo.. I have filmed the vocalist. Exported out as Mov files. Imported these into moho. Worked them into animations. Exported out. Imported into Final Cut...
But nomatter what I do, the sync is all busted. Im thinking it might have something to do with fps, but now im just so confused i dont know where to start solving this...
anyone got a bright, fresh approach i can take..? cheers...

QT is fps based. So if you sync AS to the QT and the FPS is different for both the sync will be off.
You are rotoscoping the QT in AS correct? You need to match the FPS in AS to the QT file or visa versa.
For instance if your QT file is at 30 fps and your AS file is say, 24, your animation rendered from AS will be slightly "off". Changing the FPS in AS will not effect the length of the imported QT. It will only change the length of the AS time line in relation to it. The QT file will always use the same number of frames. It is not "time based".
AS will not "retime" or stretch imported video. It will render "1 to 1" frame for frame. A 30 frame QT in an AS file will be 1 second long in an AS file set to 30 fps, but it would be 2 seconds long in an AS file set to 15 fps.
Audio is time based. If you change FPS with a soundtrack in AS the audio will "stretch" or "shrink" to match the time of the animation.

thaks dude! so glad you take the time to reply to these stupid questions...
The way i understand it, thouh...if i export DV footage with 25 fps and use it in 25 fps in moho (change the project setting), and export it out, and import it into pal-fcp, with 25 fps setting, i should be fine...?

yep,
just be sure that every piece of your movie is the same framerate.
so, if you're working for the PAL region, click on project settings, change the resolution and framerate to the PAL settings and click on "save as defaults".
it's important because else you will forget it and do it all in 24 fps.

Also to if you have already done the animatiion changing the FPS will not change the key frames in AS. The animation will still be out of sync.
There is an easy fix. Use a calculator and determine the percentage of change and multiply that times the total key frames of the animation and use rescale key frames.
So if your animation at 15 FPS is 200 frames and you need to go to 30 FPS you would use rescale key frames from 1 to 200 to 1 to 400.
I had to do that once when I used the wrong FPS in Papagayo. Everything was out of sync so I had to rescale the switch layer keys. I went from 24 to 30 FPS. So I rescaled the total frames by 125%. Worked perfectly and everything was synced again.
