I love the wispy cloud effect you got for the sky. It almost looks like broad brush strokes and it's hard to believe it's vector! I'm guessing you made extensive use of AS's brushes to get that effect. Do you cover this specific effect in any of your tutorial, by the way?
Thanks, i like my animations to look the least vectorial possible and it will be frame by frame so it wont look like a puppet show neither :)

You guessed well, i used brushes here.
With the correct settings for your layers and brushes you can get a nice looking effect like this one.

Yes, actually i cover this specific brush technique in my Starry Sky videotutorial, i teach you how to make this effect step by step, its easier than you think and if someone else is interested you can fnd it here:

You can use bones and points and avoid the puppet's look, it's all about using the tools as cleverly as possible.
Anyway, is very hard to make frame by frame in AS, I recommend you to use Plastic Animation Paper (a fantastic little software, free for windows) to make the pencil tests. You can easily import that tests to AS and then vectorize them.
It would be nice if you could show us something animated to see how you work with each character acting.

I think using bones is what exactly give the animation that puppet look, thats mainly why i dont use it but actually as you said its possible to achieve a non puppet look for your animations once you make a good mix of bones and point animation, its just im not that good at bones yet.

The combination i prefer is FBF with point animation and i know that AS is not the best to make FBF mainly becuase of he pile of layers you end up with but actually i dont really need a bunch of layers to make the animation for the characters since every shot last only a few seconds, i can handle it :)

Have you decided what you are going to do about dialog yet? I highly recommend this forum for finding amateur, but talented voice actors...

Given the quality of your work, I'm sure you could find some people willing to work for free or a share of the profits.

I wont get any profits doing this animation so it would be for free.
The reason im not using voices for the animation is simple, i plan to have the first minute of this animation ready very soon in 2 weeks or less if chose to include voices with voluntary work this will take months!

When people is offering voluntary work, they dont have any pressure on them at all since they are not being paid so they will simply deliver their work whenever they want.

Im not really willing to wait months to have my animation ready, i have checked other animations without too much voices or even no voices at all and they work well, but of course they way you write the script is different since you have to sure that even without voices people will understand the story your telling, i dont consider myself script writer but i hope people like the final result :)

Mikdog im so glad you said that :) , i thought that my short experience at character designning would be a weak point for the series.

Great job, Parker! Easily better than a lot of the TV animation that's out there at the moment.
