Thank you all.
Artzuza:
The webinar was already structured when I posted all this and it's hard to make place for anything else. We have short time and I always try to cover as much as possible. Fortunately, I think most of your asks were covered on the final questions section.

I found it very inspiring, and you gave a lot of great tips!
One thing that made it so good was the fact that you animated at the spot, and that you limited the time you had, to only a few principles. Good thinking!
Thank you very much, Ulrik. I really appreciate your words. I work hard to make webinars as good as I can. I changed the structure several times for this one, because when I tested it (recording my screen and then watching it) I realized that some stuff worked better than other or some stuff was better explained in a different order, for example. Generally I test a webinar 3 or 4 times before the real one. It's a hard but fan process, so your words really cheer me up :)
braj wrote:Victor, can you tell how you mask the wolf head so that (I assume) the eyes have masks inside the head, but display nicely without rendering? I can do similar but the eyes won't appear as being masked in the preview, only after rendering, which is really distracting. Sorry that this is off topic
Oh, I think I figured it out, you don't have nested masking, just the eye layers have a big grey square that stays in the head mask when the eyes move. That works nicely actually. I saw this pretty apparently @ 33 minutes or so. Sorry to be a distraction, just the wolf looks great.
EDIT AGAIN: How do you do the mouth as well? I would love a webinar on how to create a character like this, my attempts are pretty pitiful by comparison.
Hi Braj,
For the eyes, I discovered that it was better to simulate a mask instead of making a real one. That's why the mask of the eyes looks good in the preview, because it actually isn't a mask.
I explained it in a thread I can't find now. But here's the image I used there

For the mouth I don't remember well, but I'm almost sure I used an "2014 version" of this:
New improved Head Turn Technique!

Thank you for watching the webinar, I hope you find it informative :)

Oh thanks Selgin, that's the way I did my eyes before I figured out masking ;) About the head turn, I took your file from http://www.mediafire.com/?dhgjt0ozzj2 and manually pointed AS to the script, but I'm not sure it is working, it seems when adding smartbones to your example I did have to manually animate the mouth points when opening/closing, do you know if the script is compatible with 10.1? It's not too hard manually animating a couple smartbone actions on the simple head, but I'm wary to try it with more complex art. But I do think I understand how to do it now :)

OH BTW I love that wolf, especially the part in the webinar where you show how to use a curve to guide you through animating the tail, that was very helpful and I'll definitely be using that. I also ordered the book 'Animated Performance'. Great webinar all way round.

Selgin, sorry again, I'm just slow. I realize now that I have to embed the script on each layer that I want to use it with. Now it all works wonderfully. Thank you for all the webinars, tutorials, and patience.
