Any rumblings of a date for Moho 13 yet?

I haven't missed anything Photoshop in Affinity. Apart from the slight learning curve with Affinity and Resolve, I don't know why Adobe wouldn't be haemorrhaging subscribers.

Re: Any rumblings of a date for Moho 13 yet?
I second Krita for digital painting and drawing.
As for image compositing, I favour PhotoLine. I also have a license of Affinity Photo, but only use that for HDR and focus stacking.
Affinity Photo is okay for general comp and image editing work, in my opinion. PhotoLine is much more flexible and outperforms either Photoshop and Affinity Photo in a number of key areas for me personally. Compared to PhotoLine, I find Affinity Photo rather clunky to work with, but then again nowadays I feel Photoshop is just as clunky.
My main criticism of Affinity Photo is that many basic functions and features are lacking. Although it does have some really nice features as well (the lighting filter is great, for example).
Most people have never heard of PhotoLine, or are put off by the default GUI setup the first time they fire it up. And I agree that the default layout and settings are less than ideal.
That said, persist, adjust the GUI to your liking (it is quite configurable), and you will find an incredibly powerful advanced layer-based compositor with a 99% non-destructive workflow. It can round-trip files to other applications, and PL offers a number of features not seen in any other image editor:
- -200 up to +200 % layer opacity
- any layer can be any bit depth and any resolution and any PPI setting. Freely combine layers with various bit depths, image modes, and resolutions in one layer stack without the need for silly smart objects.
- per-layer colour management
- round-trip editing with Inkscape, and other apps (send a layer to the app, edit it, save it, and PL updates the layer, and the link remains live)
- full 1bit layer compositing. Yes: layered 1bit editing! Utterly unique.
- conversion of the background layer to any bit depth / image mode retains all the information of the top layers. Meaning: convert your work to a grayscale version, and switch back to full RGB: colours are restored as they were.
- per layer anti-aliasing control.
- per layer scaling algorithm control
- bitmap gradient layers remain live editable.
- vector layers are actual vectors. Pixel mode can be turned off and on.
- anything can be virtually instanced: including layer masks.
- layer masks can have layer masks, which can have live adjustment layers. Which can have layer masks again. Infinite depth, infinite flexibility.
- adjustment layers can be grouped in "super" adjustment layers.
- pixel snapping per layer possible.
Other noteworthy features:
- like Photoshop, PhotoLine has Smart Objects (called Placeholders).
- Classic Photoshop plugins work in PhotoLine. Even better, applied to Placeholders (and if supported by the plugin) they remain non-destructive. Just like Photoshop or Fireworks.
- pages are supported.
- PhotoLine is also a full vector and PDF editor.
- full non-destructive RAW developing.
- Full 32 bit per channel supported. No features are turned off when working in 32bit mode.
- linear workflow supported, even on a per-layer basis.
- live vector booleans (latest beta)
- spot colours supported
- full pixel mode (latest beta implements proper pixel snapping)
- deals with z-depth channels (normalizes these in the latest beta using a live adjustment layer)
- latest beta supports G'MIC filter set
Anyway, PhotoLine does have some clunky things as well. Some filters (like the lighting filter) use outdated dialogs, and the drawing tools are outdated (the latest beta finally introduces new Wacom options, bringing it to a level of Photoshop CS4). Which is why I use Krita and ClipStudio for my illustration and drawing. An indexed 8bit mode is also lacking in PhotoLine (although arguably the one in Photoshop is pretty useless without layer support - hence why I use ProMotion NG for pixel work).
Affinity Photo also offers better painting tools, compared.
But I stand by my opinion that PhotoLine is currently one of the most powerful image editors on the market. I can do things in PhotoLine which I'd be hard pressed to do as quickly or efficiently in Photoshop. And the developers are the most responsive and helpful bunch I have encountered so far. Often small requests and bugs are resolved in a matter of days.
Sorry for the rave... PhotoLine doesn't get any marketing exposure. Compared to Serif and Affinity it's the complete opposite. And hardly any tutorials either. Which makes it difficult for the beginner to pick it up.
PS important to note here: neither Affinity nor PhotoLine support animation. Well, PL does support some animation, but it's rather clunky, and either layer-based (like Fireworks and Gimp) or using a half-implemented timeline which is separate from the layers.
Krita has a very nice frame-by-frame timeline, of course.

Re: Any rumblings of a date for Moho 13 yet?
Yes, Krita's FBF is very nice, especially considering it's free/donation-ware.
My only complaint is that you can't see the waveform for an imported audio file. Not a deal killer but seeing a waveform is very useful for lip sync animation and they really need to implement that. (Note: It's actually been a few months since I last launched Krita but I don't think they've changed this yet.)

I thought it was coming out 10 month ago as it was announce by someone with inside scoop of the company?!?!?
I cant wait to hear what is under the hood. That last version update was epic and big, so I hope the same for this turn around. When can we know the detail of the new version? When are they allow to tell us?

Re: Any rumblings of a date for Moho 13 yet?
I've been looking for the last announcement, Moho 12, on their twitter and that time it seems like they announced it like 10 days before coming out, and those 10 days were teasing with new features and stuff.
They are saying "the all in one animation software" and that slogan makes me wonder if they are working more on the FBF side of Moho to be more "all-in-one".

I'm glad they're finally about to release 13, but after waiting so long for it, I find the little tease announcements mildly annoying :-/ Just release it already! *sigh*InfoCentral wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 5:14 am So we have an announcement to say there is a coming announcement and that is an announcement that MOHO is coming soon and stay tuned for an announcement.

I'm reminded of the Vietnam war, and "talks about talks"
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
