I have an idea for an animated avatar, but I am not sure of the technical parts regarding its creation.
I read online somewhere how to go about creating an animated GIF in Photoshop, so I'm pretty sure I can do that, once I have the images ready.
To create the images, should I create an 80 x 80 workspace in ASP and set the frame rate to 4 per second and do my animation in that? Or what?
Any tips from you experts? What do YOU do?

What i do is create the animation in AS...then I downloaded a free gif maker that Synth suggested in a post somewhere on the forum...it's free and what it does is converts AVI files into GIF files...really handy tool. So if you take that road, all you do is export your animation as an AVI at half-frame rate then open it up in the gif maker. Make sure that when you open it the import dither method is set to solid then save it and you should be set..

and if you'd rather do it with photoshop search the forum...the post that i mentioned earlier also talks about a way to do it with photoshop
and Selgin,
all or your avatars are really awesome!

Here's mine. I made it completely with point animation, no bones or switches or any tricks, so there's not much one could learn from the anme file (plus it'd be a pain getting it on here as I made the animation on my old computer).

Great showing so far. Keep them coming guys.
Selgin,
Your entries seem to be getting bigger and bigger. Please try to keep them close to avatar sized.
I like the buzzard, but I still don't think you've topped the goose.
Acochran_89,
I'm still going to consider your eye avatar entered. After all, we all get ideas and inspiration from just about anything we happen to come across.
