hello.

I was just wondering, is it possible to make one layer move under and or above another in a later frame? Example:

for the first 30 frames layer order would be:

1TV
2background
3Alden

then I want to make him come in from the background through a door that u can see him standing which I didn't add color.

1Tv
2Alden
3Background

when I tried doing it, it would move but stay like that from frame 1- whatever. is there anyway I can make it move for just a few layers then switch back to where he is hidden in the background again?

If you have AS Pro (you don't say) you could put these three layers into a group folder, then you could swap layer order around during the animation -- a new feature introduced in the most recent update.

Bone layers and group layers are identical. If you have standard a bone layer is exactly the same as a group layer... it just can have bones too. I think the group layer is a useless redundant feature.

Just trying to keep things simple for a newbie. Try leaving the soapbox at home now and then?

Vern wasn't on a soapbox -- since Group layers are only available in AS Pro his point was that even someone with the standard version can use a Bone layer in its stead.

(I *think* that was his point -- but perhaps it's too early in the morning for me to be thinking straight. Is layer ordering only available in AS Pro?)

That was my point mkelly. I guess the last bit was a bit of a soap box.

I find the "differences" between bone layers and group layers to be MORE confusing to those with the standard version. I just like to point out they aren't really missing anything. There is no difference between the two layers and we always have to say "if you have standard just use a bone layer instead of a group layer."

The fact remains that bone layers and group layers are identical in function except that bone layers have bones. That is what makes group layers a bit redundant... maybe not totally useless though.

Yes, both standard and pro have animated layer ordering.

p.s. I slipped off the dang soap box and nearly broke my hip... it's very slippery on a soap box.

I love my group layers, I would get very agitated should they go anywhere.
I was thinking , that what with group layers, switches and root bones, this forum can sound a little bit 70's.
