Render problem -- frames skipping?

I've been using Anime Studio for a year or two now, and I'm still really impressed by its capabilities. Just recently, though, as I've been exporting animated clips at 24 FPS, I've run into a small issue.

See, I have a character with a cape flying at high speeds -- flying so fast that I want his cape to flap back and forth in a 2-frame cycle. But when playing back the uncompressed AVI I exported, some of the frames are seemingly skipped -- like instead of a continuing pattern of 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2, it goes kind of randomly, something like 1-2-1-2-2-2-1-1-2-1. It can't be just because it's slow playback on an uncompressed AVI, because I can watch frame-by-frame in Sony Vegas and confirm that it's a problem with the actual video. Any thoughts? I have AS 10.1.

First, try disabling multi-thread rendering.

Okay, just tried it, and it didn't work.

Do you have an AS file that shows an example of the problem? If it does not show up for someone else, it may be a problem with your system/install/etc..

Here you go. The red box is flashing to the left and right on a 2-frame cycle. It plays fine in Anime Studio, of course.

Okay, it's not just you. I am also seeing duplicate/dropped frames with uncompressed AVI. There is something awry here, but there's also a way around it.

I assume you are using the same output format I tried first:

Instead, use this:

And then select uncompressed:

Hopefully this works for you as well.

Are you on XP?

I am, and the developers think it may only be an issue on XP.
