Hello everybody. Here's our second cartoon (but the first "proper" one).

TMOTMATWAT
(RealMedia 10, 8.5MB, 5 minutes long)

The Forest is out of acorns. Skippy is starving. A critical situation, that must be solved.

I know it has a few flaws, but I'm still a beginner, so some tips would be appriciated! Thanks and enjoy.

That was good! Obviously a lot of work went into it. The pace was a bit too slow in the middle, but it was entertaining, and I loved the little bits of humorous business. Keep up the good work!!

just becareful with the title, but it was real good.

Storyline got thin towards the end, but you filled out the 5 minutes nicely enough.

Audio wise, everything was mixed nicely, one criticism is the voice acting and possible processing. Compress the voices so it doesn't dip out of the mix like it did, and use a pop sheild, or even your mum's tights (any sort of mesh material will do) to stop blasts of wind from P's, B's and whistles of T's and S's etc..

Otherwise, well done, extremely exception first production (better then my crap). Boner.

Yeah, I was afraid of that... I wanted to show that they are getting more tired as the day goes by, but I stretched that part a bit too long.

That was Jeroen. I only noticed the blowing P's and B's in the roles he played. I'll tell him to avoid that next time.

I liked it. Better than the first cartoon I made, but let's not go there.

Actually, it's impossible to avoid pops without a pop shield, unless you want your voice acting to sound really contrained and unnatural. Better to let him "go crazy" and be natural with a pop shield in front of the mike. Compression would definitely help, too.

All in all, well timed, and the thin parts could be beefed up with a little interaction.

What do you mean with a pop shield exactly? Just, like... something between you and your mic? Just so I know what I have to do different next time.

And yes, I did come up with the title. Originally I wanted it to be called TMOTMATWT, but then I noticed you couldn't say it... and I felt like adding something, sneakily.

But basically it takes out the harshness of P's and B's and T's, etc.

Someone else recommended making one out of pantyhose (tights, nylons) etc. In my (amateur) experience, they make a big difference.

A cheaper option is to step away from the mic and preamp it more, this is where compression will come in handy.

Also, make sure you deaden the room somehow - i find putting my mic in my cupboard (which is full of clothes) will pick up the vocals really well avoiding echo's and unwanted reverb. I've only just discovered this after a recent attemp with voice acting, so i've got parts which are room natural and parts which are dead as hell, so it sounds odd... oops.

Found out a socks works alright too! You'll notice the difference in our next short, which will be coming very soon.
