Content Library, Vista and Permissions

Post by hendie »

I noticed a few posts on the Content library being "buggy" - I am also experiencing the same issues with it hanging and crashing.
However, there is one further issue I have experienced which to me is more serious and numerous emails to Smith Micro support have yielded only an "it's nothing to do with us.... contact Microsoft" response.

I bought Anime Debut 7 as a gift for my 10 year old daughter. After installing it I discovered that the Content Library does not display any of the icons correctly, and displays generic windows icons instead.
After a week of emailing, uninstalling and reinstalling Anime Debut, Flash and other time consuming tweaks, including turning off UAC and anti virus
I found that this is only an issue when the program is run under a "standard" users account on Vista. When run under the administrator account, everything works as intended.

Has anyone else experienced this? and more importantly, has anyone figured a workaround or fix for the problem?

Anime Debut 7.1, Vista Home Premium, IE 8, Flash 10.1

I've got that installed on a standard account and the library icons load fine in that account. Maybe some permissions problem on your standard account? Did you originally install the program under your standard account or an admin account? Most programs need to be installed under an admin account even if they're designed for use in standard accounts (only admin has the right permissions to write things to certain places).
