Interpolating Line Thickness

Post by Honacloi »

I am trying to create a head turn using switch layers and all was going hunky dory - with smooth interpolation for the points and thus the shape. However, I have hit a snag: When I play the animation, the changes in line thickness between the two layers does not interpolate like the shape, it happens suddenly on the keyframe at the end of the movement.

Any ideas how I can overcome this problem?

I am using Anime Studio Pro 6.

Thanks.

Have you checked to see if there was a keyframe on the layer with a new line width?

Maybe try to remove all animation from that layer will solve this.

Hard to tell with out the file really!

Tried removing all animation from the document and starting again. Same result.

Here is the file, the problem being that the nose line thickness switches between frame 47 and 48 instead of interpolating between frames 24 and 48 like the points do.

On the part that you are having trouble with you have used hide edge between the 2 points. Go back to frame 0 and make the edge visible and now use the line thinckness over time to make the line appear.

I just fixed it for you but realized you use 6 and I and I am using AS7.

Just go to frame 0 and make that line segment visible, now using the line width tool make those 2 points have 0 width. Now at frame 47 make those 2 points width match those of the front nose.

Also remember to copy and paste the 0 line width at frame 0 to frame 24 so the line does not get thicker until after frame 24.

This will give you the results you are looking for.
:D
Sorry for bad animation

Thankyou sbtamo. Much appreciated :D

Maybe this deserves a thread of its own but do you happen to know whether I can steal an interpolated frame from between my switches.

What I mean is, I have the head turning right, for which I have each layer on a switch layer interpolated. I have used only two drawn layers between them. If I want my character to stop on a 3/4 turn say, and rather than drawing the inbetween, can I somehow grab that midmovement from the interpolated animation? If so how?

I hope that makes sense.

Anyway thanks again.
