Change object order in single layer?
In other programs if I am building something on a single layer, I can just right click and move an object in front of or behind an object on that layer. I have only had ASP for a few days but I am going nuts because I can't find an answer.
For example: If I draw two squares on one layer, but I want to move the first square I drew in front of the second one how do I do that? I noticed that I can move the objects layer order and z access per clicking on the layer itself, but that doesn't allow me to still order objects on each single layer, any ideas?

Z is only applied to a layer, not the vector contents of it. But each shape has a stacking order, which can be manipulated. perhaps watch my tutorial from the footer of this thread.
there is a script that allows you to animate shape order stacking but it's only available on the vip section of animatorsforum which you can only gain access to after making 50 worthwhile posts...

Rasheed created an script to do the same thing several years ago, even before you could animate the layer order. The vector layer must be inside a bone layer, and each shape has a bone layer. Depending of the position of each bone on X, it defined the layer order.funksmaname wrote:there is a script that allows you to animate shape order stacking but it's only available on the vip section of animatorsforum which you can only gain access to after making 50 worthwhile posts...
I used it a lot in that days.

If you make shift+up or down, the shape will move to the top or to the back.ChaseNJersey wrote:Thank you all so much, selecting and using the arrow key worked... I just had to hold it down for a few seconds and then it came to the front. Thanks again!!!

I don't know if you've tried Synthsin's script but its way easier and more intuitive - you literally use the normal arrow keys to reorder anything and keyframes are placed on a complimentary switch layer. These keys can then be moved and deleted as well... it's really amazing. The vector layer must be inside a bone layer, and each shape has a bone layer.

Oh, you are right. I was confused with flipbybones script. That was the Rasheed's one and it changed the layer order.Genete wrote:Hi selgin,

It is by Synthsin, and is a mod on the stock select shape tool. It's really great, but no, I can't share it. Go to www.animatorsforum.com and get involved - soon enough you will have access to it.jurjen wrote:really?! is that the script that I have been waiting for since the first version of moho?funksmaname wrote: there is a script that allows you to animate shape order stacking but it's only available on the vip section of animatorsforum which you can only gain access to after making 50 worthwhile posts...

Bear in mind that the 50 posts is a guideline and is manually controlled, so just going around putting one word responses to 50 threads will not work...
