attaching bones to an image for a newbie

I just bought the newest version of Anime Studio Pro so I am very new to this type of program. I was wondering if someone could outline the simple steps of attaching bones to an image skeleton? When I do it, my persons hand will affect the whole picture, no matter how small I make the bone.
