Losing Resolution when transferring to DVD

Post by lmorrell »

Hello All
I notice that the animations I make with Anime Studio Pro 8 look great in Anime Studio Pro 8, but as soon as I transfer them to DVD they look like crap.
I am putting them through Final cut pro first to fix the color, then burning to DVD. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to not lose so much resolution in the transfer?
Thanks for your help! :D

It is probably a codec problem.
Sorry for bad animation

Any suggestion on the best codec to use? I'm currently exporting in HD.

Typical DVD resolution is 720 x 480. If your project size is say HD720, which is 1280 x 720, you will see downsampling or loss of detail no matter what. If you want HD quality, burn to Blu-Ray disc.

For codecs, the consensus seems to be Quicktime png. Also, exporting png frames works well too (which you would composite in an editing program).
