I wish I could afford it, I'm still struggling with my old copy of mirage that I bought without knowledge of tvp's existence just before the law suit.
I just can't bring myself to pay full price for an upgrade, I really think they should have had an extended amnesty , for the customers who were hardly at fault.I would have taken it up years ago if they had. I kind of feel like I can't purchase it on principal, it is a painful decision , I know the money is hard for me to earn the cost of software is just crippling these days.
That said, Mirage is great even if I had to twist it's arm to get it to work after a dongle misadventure- stoopid dongle
Actually you have to twist it's arm to do almost anything , but it actually does do almost everything.... I think TVP's newest version can do some amazing painterly effects , something I often have had a great need for but had to make do with Mirage and importing to painter...very painful.

Holy smokes! I just saw this thread and never head of TVPaint. I've been looking for frame by frame based animation software. I've toyed around with ToonBoom and am currently trying out Flash. I'm still trying to get to grips with the methods and concepts of frame by frame animation but I completely enjoy the freedom fbf gives you. I'm gonna to have a look at TVPaint but I'd be in the same intimidated boat as Netersguy.

It is actually fairly easy to do the basic task of fbf, it is raster though ASP has many advantages over it, but .... AS can't match it in flat out drawing and colouring let alone the fbf issue.

I too have Mirage and would love TV Paint. I did contact them at TVPaint but the price was still way too much for me. I just couldn't justify that at the moment when I can do most of what I need to in AS and use Mirage, Plastic Animation Paper or PD Pro for most frame by frame.

I think it wouldn't make sense to switch a vector show to bitmaps in subsequent seasons.

ive always liked the look of TVPaint, but as a hobbyist far too out of my price range,

do they offer any non commercial licences at a reduced rate?

I do have Toon Boom harmony as they offered installments and was easier to pay that way, anything similar with TVPaint?

TVPaint Standard is much less than the Pro version, only 495€

Unfortunately, we cannot take this kind of payment, because we have the structure for this.

As Idragosani said, the Standard edition is more affordable. And even if you change your mind, you could upgrade to the Pro edition by paying the difference
