Make the different angle to turn a character

Post by Kathryn »

I kind of know how to make the character, different angles, and the drawing part. I wonder though the basic steps for animating the turn in Anime Studio. Say you have the front view, 3/4 view, side view and back. Do you use switch layers? I have bits and pieces of how to do this in my mind's eye but a good video link would be great to show me.

Thanks!

Also, what's the scoop with Character Wizard? Can you add your own creations to it somehow to alter them? If so, how?

There are a number techniques, some quite elaborate, to achieve the holy grail of the perfect head or body turn. Selgins tutorials are the best on this subject.

However, slow turns are rare in most animations as they tend to look unnatural. Using a switch layer (or turn layer visibility on or off as needed) is a perfectly fine (and importantly, simple) solution in most cases.

Although you can vary the features and proportions, adding your own characters to Character Wizard is limited. This has been discussed at some length:

I seem to agree with neeter_guy on this. When I 1st got into animations I wanted to always spend all my time trying to make the transitions from front to 3/4 to side smooth. Now I just use switch layers. You can use camera shots to help the transitions. Lets say 2 people are talking at a 3/4 pose. Next, switch to a side view with them walking but have the camera zoomed in or out instantly.
Sorry for bad animation
